Taekwondo national team of Serbia took a gold medal at the World University Taekwondo Championship held in Belgrade Sports Hall from July 16 to 20 this year.

Vanja Babic, member of the Serbia's national taekwondo team, won a gold medal this evening at the 10th World University Taekwondo Championship. This is the first gold in the history of our participation in taekwondo university competitions.

From July 16 to 20 this year, in the Belgrade Sports Hall, the World University Taekwondo Championship will be held. The Championship has been co-organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), World Taekwondo Federation (WTO), Universiy Sports Federation of Serbia (USSS), Taekwondo Association of Serbia (TAS) and Universiade Belgrade 2009 (UB2009).

Serbian basketball team won the silver medal at 24th Universiade in Bangkok, having been defeated in the finals by Lithuania with the score 66:85 (quarters: 27-15, 15-27, 14-19, 10-24).

Serbia's water polo university representatives, who began competition at the Bangkok Universiade today, won the match with Great Britain 13-7 (3:1, 2:2, 4:0, 4:4) in the first round in Group B. Tomorrow they will meet with the South African team.

Bangkok will be the centre of the world university sports from 8 to 18 August. In the Thai capital will be held 24th Summer University games organised by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
